Use your Superhero powers

Superheroes are back this summer and letting us know they are here to fight the evils away! I'd like to say they are fighting the fashion faux pas'!

You can watch Batman, Iron Man, and the Incredible Hulk on the big screen this summer but when you hear a big scream you need to rush off quickly and not lose any part of your outfit, right? That's why these one piece rompers or jumpsuits are making the comeback and testing our superhero abilities. You can dash here and there without stumbling over a skirt too long, a shirt collar too wide or just tripping over those pants you've been meaning to hem all year.

Throw on a romper, jumper or jumpsuit and call it a day! It just makes sense now why those superheroes have always gone for the one piece spandex tights to fight crime and run through town easily. Well here are a few options better than spandex tights to fight the fashion blues you've been dragging. This way you can hop from one party to the next and skip along the way if you want !

Dress like an exotic fruit this summer

This summer should be refreshing and full of new taste in the air. Be adventurous, try on a new shade, test some new waters, BE EXOTIC. You may be asking "how do I dress like an exotic fruit"? Here are some options I found to be tempting enough to eat & wear.

Angry Asian's recent blog about the Dragon fruit, or Pitaya, gave me some fun ideas for dressing up my style this summer. It's a fruit of several cactus species & found native to some exotic destinations like Mexico, South East Asia, Australia & Israel.

Something easy to find might be a white dress with black dots or vice versa w/ a pink accessory, maybe shoes or a clutch would do the job. I found something white & black with animal print all over.

To get the fuchsia pink outer layer of the dragon fruit, pair your dress with something bright
To get the color scheme without the dots, try a dress that's exotic on its' own like this

Next on our exotic fruit adventure is the Mangosteen; a tropical evergreen tree. This bright deep purple skin and white flesh fruit is sweet & delicate; also believed to have originated in the Sunda Islands & the Moluccas.

You can do a lot with your style using mangosteen colors.

I found this dress that looks just like the fruit; Paul & Joe, cremerie short kimono dress @ shopbop.com

Our exotic fruit field trip now ends at the Mango. This fruit is always a treat when found in a salad or as a snack. Mango is one of the most popularly exploited fruits for food, juice, flavor, fragrance & color. It is only natural we exploit it into the fashion world as well!

Utilize the different shades of the mango's ripening stages into your wardrobe.

What a Croc!

This is no bull, it's a Croc! Introducing the Cyprus Croc heels!

As I was thumbing through my bible, Vogue magazine, and dreaming of that new Prada bag with fantasy printed buckskin leather and gold hardware...oops, sorry, that's a topic for another blog. Anyways, I was surprised by an ad for the Cyprus Crocs with the headline reading, "It's hard to believe the parents were ugly". SO TRUE!

Check them out! 6 color options, ergonomic, anti-microbial, odor resistant & lightweight. Did you know Crocs circulation nubs help stimulate blood flow?

Great for vacation and looking cute in your beach dress and taking those long strolls on the boardwalk without hurting your feet or you can even run out to the grocery store without looking like a tranny hot mess.

Crocs have developed some really cute styles since their original clog breakthrough, which are really good for gardening or working around the house but we need to look good and feel good off the lawn too. The flip flops and ballerina styles are ones to look into as well.Step into them & be good to your feet. Crocs.com

Embroidery to Embroider-me

Embroider-me this summer please. Embroidery styles are showing up everywhere and I want them on me! These styles naturally bring back the rustic South American & ancient 15th & 16th century Spain blackwork stitching styles. Now fast forward to the bohemian flower power trend that's coming back and now you've got a look that will last all summer. These styles come in light weight linen or cotton materials so you'll get a nice breeze if one picks up and whisks through you for a nice break from the summer heat.

Try red & coral for you daring and 'I want to be noticed' chicas, ivory & white for you laid back senoritas. Take your pick and find something relaxing and sexy for this weekend's BBQ.

Match your flowy embroidered top with a pair short shorts and those really popular gladiator sandals.

Want to dress it up? Try this printed embroidered dress @ Lucky Brand Jeans

Dainty with a worldly appeal, this dress features a light batik style print underneath neck and hem embroidery in peach and white.

You are about to be BITTEN!

Right now I am smitten by Bitten. Bitten is Sarah Jessica Parker's clothing line; "Fashion you can afford to love". I simply forgot or couldn't remember where they sold her goods and was reminded by a friend last week. L. Glassman from Germantown, MD reminded me when she recently returned from her Houston, Texas trip and raved about a shirt she got for $8.98; Bitten, exclusively sold at Steve & Barry's; stores located nationwide.

I did some research and learned most items are $8.98! My research was also confirmed by another friend that I met yesterday. C. Sinha from Germantown, MD was living proof of some Bitten gear when I was with her. She sported a cute white (work friendly) top & brown leather handbag by Bitten. Sinha added, "...keep in mind it is cheap stuff but this bag is so functional"; as she pulled and opened every little pocket compartment to show me. I was sold!

Here are a few of my fave items spotted online; I'm off to my nearest store this weekend to see what the real goods are all about. Find your store & get Bitten!

Flutter sleeve eyelettop $8.98, splash blue printed tank $8.98, eyelet trim dress in blade green $8.98

Work tote, vintage brown $8.98

Flutter sleeve eyelettop magenta striped $8.98, sailor short railroad wash $8.98
