Can you believe it has been forever and a day doll faces?! It feels like we've been held back in some kind of immortal love zone and we woke up from a fresh kiss of glitz, glam and our realization that our true love for fashion could not die! (Whatdya say - too much Twilight and Lady Gaga on my mind)????

I invite you to join me on this journey of inspiration of fashion frenzy to save my fashion life...do or die time!

WHOWHATWEAR has been a huge inspiration for me on the daily and although I haven't blogged in A YEAR I still found clarity in the styles and trends that WhoWhatWear delivered to me. I finally picked up the 'Celebrity and Runway Style for Real Life' book that I scooped up at SouthMoonUnder. It's been since Mar 2011 that I started managing the SMU Reston location and time has been spinning around me. Busy days turn into busy nights and it's time to share my love for fashion again. I realized it's time to find my soul mate, my match for fashion, and actually settle down with my personal style! I want to find myself through the fashion inspirations that surround me, allowing myself to be vulnerable again towards all the style options out there; through my work, every day surroundings and hopefully seeing fashion in a new light altogether. I want to test drive it all and see which one matches me best! I know our personal styles may change through the evolution of our lifetime but I need a face lift on my style and this is where we start.

The first chapter is Style by Inspiration. My first, and one of many, inspiration boards came together within minutes and without a thought in mind. WhoWhatWear mentions few things to remember when creating an inspiration board; nothing's off limits, follow your instincts and embrace fantasy. With that said I took a stab at this board and the results are shown. My quick review of my board indicates a few things. The obvious shows: I'm not scared of glitter, feathers tickle me, the animal in me is ready, love is obvious, vintage inspired looks come big - from big hair to big kisses, accessories are a must and colors brighten my days!

Can you spot any other clues that identify me here? I know this is only the start to finding myself but at least it's a start. It's going to change, it will become emotional, and some things will scare me away. I won't fret. I won't give up. I will stay in this relationship until I'm fully satisfied with my lifelong partner. It's what I want r-i-g-h-t now and it's what I am drawn to. It's holiday season and the colors this season have made a huge impact everywhere. From make-up to shoes it's been a bright fall/winter. When the seasons change, I will change and as the blog posts continue I'll become an open book of fashion.

I'm excited I got this far with the post! Let's have some fun and look forward to many more inspirations!

Will harem pants really fly high this season?

Or will they just fly through our fashion trends? There have been some sightings of harem pants since last spring [Chloe's spring 2009 collection] but I have eyed a few recently that are somewhat cute. For real! Would I wear them? I don't know but I'd consider them for the interim. Harem pants are basically baggy pants tapered at the ankle. I haven't yet ventured out to make any my own but maybe I could look into my 1989 closet when the Hammer pants were in style. I remember begging my mother to make mine. When she finally gave in I chose a crazy tribal print that she made "V" cut at my ankles. My crotch, on the other hand, looked as though there were towels stuffed in my pants and that was a trend that fizzled quickly into the late 80's. How could I help myself? I was only 10! Since then I've seen a few in magazines and on the runway but I haven't dared to wear any. I'm thinking maybe this summer I'll start with a cover up pair for the beach and then see how that treats me. Hey - it's a start!

I've been following Rachel Zoe's newsletter recently and one item in particular caught my attention. Last month Rachel posted "Um...Need to Powder My Nose". Dear Anna Sui,

I fell in love with your SoHo - NYC store this summer and now I must confess my lust for your designs. I always loved your funky style since the age of 15-16. Your runway shows were crazy funky/edgy/Gothic/girly/flirty/Victorian/rock&roll...the list goes on with the many many different avenues of fashion you marry together. I also cannot leave out the envy I had for you as an Asian fashion designer.

My experience in your retail store was above and beyond my expectations as a child and I was in boutique heaven the second I walked in. To my delight I didn't break my bank account with the winning piece I scooped up that day. I found a sheer, multi colored, gold pinstriped tunic that flowed like the softness of silk running down a waterfall. Thank you for making this for me because it fits me like a glove.

My summer make up search has led me to the perfect matching concealer and mascara that extends for days. Hopefully extending through every day of this lovely season while I run around and play.

I was in need of more mascara. I mean MORE mascara. The look of lashes that just goes on and on and is thick around each strand of hair lining your top eye lid. I wanted to try something different and outstanding. And by outstanding I mean, something that would pop out when I put it on. Something defined in texture and in color. And Voila! I found Bourjois' Volume Glamour ULTRA Curl. The name itself has every option I was seeking for! Pretty marketing package in black and pink is always a plus too.

My need for concealer was by mistake. I just needed more of it for "emergencies" but I also think of it being unnecessary in the summer. I was intrigued with Smashbox because I've never tried anything from this product line and wanted to give it a chance. When I tested the high definition concealer in the medium shade I was mesmerized. The concealer hid my imperfection so well it just disappeared. I've never had a concealer match my skin SO well! I was SOLD!

So...who is Jason Wu? Launching his label 3 years ago, Jason Wu, a 26 year old designer born in Taipei, has been getting recognition throughout the New York scene. Having been picked up by major stores like Nordstrom's recently, this New York-based designer is sure to get national and world wide recognition more than ever now. Although his label is pretty well known in other countries, like Japan, his style and translation seems to fit the all well rounded shopper. From glitz and glamour to every day wear, he's pretty much got you covered.

Pink Pearl Necklace

One of my pen pals opened up an interesting topic of fashion talk this morning as I opened my emails. R.Virmani of Dubai writes about a gift she received from one of her sweet student's, M. Hoque, "I got pearls from my student from Bangladesh. It's three strands of the raw looking pearls that are light pink. The clasp is a flower made of shell. I think it's really pretty but have no idea how to wear it. It's short and looks really vintage-y".

Hello! I felt it was my adventure to find the answer; (not that she needs that much help because she did find a rockin' way to wear this piece, by keeping the flower clasp to the side). How edgy!

I turned to Polyvore.com, a place where you can find goods from blouses to handbags and shoes or use the items available from this site to create a look. What a fun way to start my day; maybe not to most others, but definitely my cup of tea!

Ahmed of Washington, D.C., added, "the light pink [color] is why Bangladeshi pearls are considered the cream of the crop". Oh really? Yes, really. Yes. Bib necklaces. They are popping up everywhere for 2009! Many designers' spring collections show how these bib necklaces are hot for your winter getaway or your new spring gear.

Who What Wear reported to me earlier this week the latest 2009 trends. I gasped when I saw the bib necklaces. I've seen them in a few runway shots from Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2009, ready-to-wear collection. I even saw some on the red carpet here and there, but I never put two and two together; until I saw the trend resurfacing again and again.

Another spread that caught my eye was from Cynthia Rowley's Resort collection; she presents feminine classics. To add a touch of trendiness she really shows off how far you can go with these bib necklaces; they doubled up as matching visors to Japenese inspired robes and harem pants (or some of you know them more as M.C. Hammer pants). How brilliant!?

Spring 2009 is drowning me with inspiration. Take a look at some to help inspire your wardrobe; who knows it might spark a warm weather destination for yourself. *wink*

A great way to start off the New Year

Hello Madonna! Thanks for kicking 2009 off to a great start with your new Louis Vuitton ad campaign. Many are asking hot or not. If you got it, you're hot and Madonna's definitely got it. I mean, not many of us can drape ourselves over couches and dangle purses from our stilettos, while said legs are wide open, looking cool and serene for the camera...but then again, we're not MADONNA. Many try, none are successful.

The handbags are hot and the look for this campaign certainly has a fantasy touch. That's probably the case because Steven Meisel, photographer from Madonna's 1992 Sex book, has already captured some of her sexy poses. Add some designer handbags to the mix and we now have glamorous ads to gawk at. As a fan of Madonna's, since the early 80's, I can say these ads will be stunning in upcoming fashion magazines and billboards. I know I'll still drool at them for a while.

The reports are in and tis the season to be gray. Gray doesn't have to be so dreary though. You might instantly think so but it's getting so much attention at holiday parties . Maybe it's the mysteriousness of it or how it intrigues us because it is not the subtle color you normally reach for. Whatever the reason, it will bring out your holiday wardrobe and have conversations going like, "what's that color" or "oh that's new and interesting".

I've been drawn to these nail tones all season and have been informed by a very resourceful nail color companion, J. Hill of Clarksburg, MD of her love for these oh so gray hues. My Who What Wear report today also confirmed my new found nail color obsession.

The popular choice has been from O.P.I., with their smashing colors and such appropriate polish names you can't not reach for them. Features like their La Collection de France with polish names such as Parlez-vous O.P.I.? and You Don't Know Jacques! make me want to scream VIVA LA HOW CUTE!

Feeling a little glamorous? Rachel Zoe has totally lifted my glam spirits after catching up on her show on Bravo, The Rachel Zoe Project. This chaotic fashion reality show captures Rachel Zoe's personal and professional fashion life. As much as everyone wants to call her a running train wreck or just another eye wrenching reality show to stir up our cable TV life, I'd like to personally stand proud to say that I watch this show to see the ohhhh la f*ckin' la (excuse my French) designer/couture fashion wow's of the fashion world.

She really got my blood flowing so here I am, inspired by the glam and wanting the fabulous pieces that really bring out all the stops. The holidays are coming up and it doesn't hurt to glam it up a bit. Here are some pieces to glam up any simple outfit.

I have been DYING over Lady Gaga this week. She is the artist behind the popular "Just Dance" single; you may have also seen her performances featured on America's Best Dance Crew on Mtv and FOX's So you think you can dance.

She somehow channeled my inner blond ambition, rock n' roll, air guitarin', 80's dance movin', & hair shakin' spirit. Gasp. I reported part of this look earlier this week with the leather driving gloves. Whether you enjoy it or not, some of us have been sporting this preppy style for our leisure and some of us have been using it to help our golf game. Superheroes are back this summer and letting us know they are here to fight the evils away! I'd like to say they are fighting the fashion faux pas'!

You can watch Batman, Iron Man, and the Incredible Hulk on the big screen this summer but when you hear a big scream you need to rush off quickly and not lose any part of your outfit, right? Angry Asian's recent blog about the Dragon fruit, or Pitaya, gave me some fun ideas for dressing up my style this summer. It's a fruit of several cactus species & found native to some exotic destinations like Mexico, South East Asia, Australia & Israel.

Something easy to find might be a white dress with black dots or vice versa w/ a pink accessory, maybe shoes or a clutch would do the job. I found something white & black with animal print all over.

Right now I am smitten by Bitten. Bitten is Sarah Jessica Parker's clothing line; "Fashion you can afford to love". I simply forgot or couldn't remember where they sold her goods and was reminded by a friend last week. L. Have you been to heaven? Shoe heaven? Bad hair day?

Stick a fork in it...I mean stick a hat on it, your hair that is.

Baseball caps are easy and functional on sporty days or Sunday's but what if your gear isn't sporty for the day? Find a functional "right for the weather" fashionable hat.

My hat today is 85% wool and 15% polyester. It's definitly keeping my head warm outside but what about inside? Well it's my lifesaver indoors today as I ran late this morning and didn't have time to wash my hair. No she din't!!!! Yes I did! And I use my hats when I can to save my hair from disaster looks of disgust until I can do something about it later...when I'm getting ready for an evening out!

Oh how I miss Vietnam! Here's to shopping in Nha Trang & Saigon, Vietnam. The excellent customer service for "have a seat on the blue tupperware chair" was always an option while shopping! Thank gawd b/c my feet were tired from all the walking!

Cold and Rain Do Not = Fun

Do we all agree on the subject? Speak now or forever hold your peace if you disagree.

I'm just not a fan of being cold and wet at the same time. Cold and rainy days require the rain boots to come out. The problem with rubber rain boots is that they lack warmth. There is no getting around it. I thought leg warmers would do justice but then what about the toes? They'd still be cold. Leg warmers only support warmth in your LEGS.

I had to search for a product that would help save your toes and your health; you can't go getting sick b/c you didn't stay warm now. When something burnt is a good thing...

Don't worry I didn't burn my toast or bagel this morning. Nor did I burn the house down leaving my curling iron on.

I did find something that was burnt last week and it actually gave me a new light. A new light on boots! I am a 100% boot lover and all boots fancy my taste buds. My personal faves: knee high , mid calf, both in 2" or 3" height, flat heeled riding, sheepskin lined. I even like cowboy boots but cannot allow myself to even try them on, let alone purchase a pair...something about cowboy boots just do not = Asian girl wearing them.

Easy black or brown boot options were automatically applied to my wardrobe but became complicated when colored boots became my feast of being a shoe lover this season. I always went for the brown or the black options for boots, so I could alternate through wardrobe easily.

Flats, pumps and sandals in all colors of the Crayola crayon box is absolutely necessary, but I never really let the light shine in on my boots. That is until I met Keshia, who came in the perfect shade of orange...burnt! I was going to a far end of my boots desired list that I've never drifted towards before.

And now I introduce you to the Keshia boot from Bakers as an item I am trying to see "how many different outfits I can match up with this pair of burnt orange boots". The challenge is quite interesting. I figured I had to put it to this test to get the most out of them since they are not so easily throw-on-able boots. My favorite route so far is the tuck in skinny jeans and long shirt option. Casual outfits can give a good show with 2 1/2" colored boots. I encourage finding fun new colors to play with!

BEST SALE I'VE SEEN IN A LONG TIME

I have been searching, long and hard before and after the holiday sales for the best deal(s).

Best deals on what? I don't know. Anything. Or Everything???? It's called BUUVENTORY; I keep a mental inventory of what I like/dislike, if it is on sale, whether or not it's a new or past season item and the prices that these items may vary between stores that carry the brands...you knoooow...what everyone else keeps a mental inventory of, right? OF COURSE!

Well from online stores to dept. stores and anywhere in between I was there. Now that I've seen it all with multiple trips to the mall for weeks (Zeke, I know - it just doesn't make sense to you) and countless online researching, I think I found the best deal just right for me.

If you live in the DC Metro area, now through Sunday Jan. 13th BCBGMaxazria is having a store blowout sale at Tyson's Galleria Mall.
This is where I sifted through 30-70% off racks of coats, jackets, shawls, purses, and evening gowns for approximately an hour. PLUS AN EXTRA $50 OFF $200 OR MORE ON YOUR PURCHASE!

It was an amazing experience. I couldn't spend too much time here, but I did browse the racks quickly and efficiently so I could focus on where in the store I should spend most of my time.

My options were limited; I couldn't go all out b/c believe me I could have quickly done my usual & grabbed anything in my size and fave colors I prefer and walked straight back to the dressing room to spend the rest of my time fussing, pulling and trying on everything. So I had to be reasonable.

My focus was drawn to an everyday purse I could use; although the off the shoulder silk charmeuse mini ruched bottom cocktail dress in the cutest champagne color was calling my name, I had to remember birthday bash is over and where the heck would I wear it anyways? And right then there it stood... Ahhhhhh!

It was like there was a single glowing beam lighting over the last leather purse on the sale shelf in the color and style I adore, there it stood whispering...Buu, Buu, pick me up and touch me. I proceeded to pick it up and inspect it in all views, I was in love and it wasn't hard loving it already when the 50% off tag was staring right at me with puppy dog eyes. The color was perfect; it was greay (that's grey & gray together for my dedicated readers that read my Gray & Purple blog entry, I still haven't decided which way I like to spell it the most so for now I'll spell it greay).

From different angles of lighting it looks periwinkle, violet or lavender and from other lighting in the store it looked deep green, almost iridescent, per my shopping companion I had with me. I was SOLD. I couldn't let go, hung onto it while I browsed other items (and actually just carried it like it was mine before I walked in b/c it just felt so right) and now it's my new best friend; (sorry Lindshope I still gots love for ya).

Well here's to shopping sales and no more shopping for Buu. Why? B/c I'm satisfied for the time and got my fix (for now) but don't you worry I'll still be able to bring it with the fashion info. (Plus maybe I got the hint Zman said something I'm still trying to figure out, something like...NO MORE SHOPPING?)!

So that's the best sale I've seen in a long time and my personal experience of finding what was best out there for me...

Lan, Buu Linh & Kelcy bday bash was a HIT! Thank you all that joined us, you made our night fabuulous!

Look at Lan and I, we've lost our pink sailor-ish dresses THIS bday! Luck was on our side, the bad weather skipped over town and we were able to drop it like it's HOT.

Lan opted for a black V-neck soft blocked graphic flowy bottom dress for her C-class for CLASSY "getting into her 30's" look. Meanwhile Kelcy and I went classic with our slick selves with soft patterns in our top & dress. Nothing too busy anywhere else but the DANCE FLOOR! Haaaaaaaaaay!

Just as we used to share in our birthdays in the past we try to continue the traditions AND THIS YR WE'RE ROCKIN' OUT THE RIGHT WAY.

This particular birthday pic from 1984 pulls all my Pham cousins together. We don't know who's birthday this party is for even though cousin Bryan is in front row & licking cake (he licked all our cakes). The attention is drawn towards Lan and my pink outfits. Pink?! Yes.

Bangs too? Yes.

Lan MUST have heart-ed the sailor look; we see it once again, this time with a V-neck straight flap over top and bow look. I have a semi-sailor-ish look going. The lacy ruffled edging makes it confusing though. Lots of lace too for my currnt taste; or maybe it was intended as bib? I don't know. My My Ly, mother and inspiration, is not available for comment.

This year we're rocking it it out right. Stay tuned for talk about our bday outfits, they actually involve clothes, not that bday outfit.

Happy BIG bday G-Lan! A.K.A. Lannie Pooh, Chi Lan, Pham Phoung Thi Lan, Be Lan and my favorite, L'enfant Plaza. Today we celebrate Lan's bday and the number 30!

Dating back to this picture, May 1985, we can see how the trends for party dresses have transpired. The one detail that stands out for me is the scalloped edging around the sailor bib necking. Keep the look strong and rock out this bday to a look you can look back on 20 years from now and say...haaaaaaaaaaaaay, mmmmmmmmmmmkaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

Good morning Vietnam! We are back from my motherland!

Be warned! This only leads to a trend of future blogs all related to my recent visit to my homeland so get ready for a fashion taste of Vietnam!

I can't help but start with how quick and easy Asian countries serve you; Vietnam is a country all about service, as a customer you are pampered from head to toe for as long as you want, or as quickly as you need, and as efficiently as well. Maybe that is where the quickness of a ninja is created.

Our first day in Saigon, we met Great Uncle Thanh, my maternal grandfather's youngest brother. Naturally, he wanted to show and give us all the great city of Saigon has to offer but we expressed our desire to find a tailor for custom made fitted suits for my hubby and we needed to do it with a swiftness and efficiency. Why such a demanding request? We needed to get this done the first day because so many steps were involved: buy the fabric, get fitted, and expect 2 completed suits in 7 days when we finally return from 2 other cities and back to Saigon for our departure back to the US. Talk about a request, huh!?

So he granted our wish, taking us to his buddy and well known Saigon tailor, Huy. To our surprise and dismay, we showed up at his store to find it closed! No problem! Uncle Thanh called him right away and had him open shop for us (it's all about who you know!). He took measurements and hubby got fitted. Next, we hopped on the back of motorbikes, on an adventure to the big market to do some fabric hunting.

A few hours later, after much scavenging, we made it back to the tailor, picked out styles and arranged a time for the following day to stop by and get fitted with the shell of the suit. The next day was delivered as promised, we met, got fitted and everything looked like it was coming together perfectly; just the basics of the one jacket was created and when hubby tried it on, it looked like it was made for him… and it was! We were satisfied and content with leaving it up to the hands of this capable tailor and we prepared for departure to Nha Trang the next day, our journey back to the place of my birth. Stay tuned to find out what we encountered after Nha Trang and Da Lat (2 cities later) when we picked up our completed suits. Oh! I neglected to mention, there was so much leftover fabric for one of the types we chose, it would've been waste to not make use of it: additional slacks and a pencil skirt (pour moi, bien sur!) were created!

RI is losing a contest that it can and should win. Victory depends on you, but you have to act by Oct. 31.

The Ploughshares Fund has chosen RI as one of 12 organizations to participate in its Peace Primary, a contest designed to boost donations to small groups that work for peace and justice. The attached document—Speak Out—explains the contest and leads you to the donation page. Every dollar donated up to $1,000 from a single individual counts as a vote. At the end of the month, the organization with the most dollars or votes will win a $100,000 prize.

About half a dozen board members have contributed. Thank you. However, we need 100% participation. So far the leading organization has raised only $69,000. We ought to be able to do much better than that. The winner will be the organization that best uses viral marketing to generate support.

So please do the following:

1) Open the attached Speak Out document and follow the instructions for making a contribution. Although the contribution goes initially to the Ploughshares Fund, the money will flow back to us. You can also donate by going to http://www.refugeesinternational.org
2) Ask you spouses, partners, and children to make contributions or just make them for them.
3) Ask friends on your email list to help. We are getting a lot of contributions from Jackson, WY because of good work by board members there.
4) If you have a personal website or blog or are on Face Book, My Space or any other social networking site, ask your contacts to contribute. You can merely pass on the Speak Out attachment.
5) If you run a company or a firm, please consider giving your employees and customers an opportunity to participate.
6) If you are part of an email community through a college or university list-serve, forward the Speak Out attachment to everybody on the list serve, asking them to participate.

What's your preppin' problem?

You voted and "Prep it out" won. So what's your preppin' problem? I turn to my executive assistant Kim P. (my #1 prep master flash) for this one b/c her style has been prepped out so much for so long it's spilling into Buu's world.

Gasp.

A signature prep it out outfit Kim P. chooses often (and easily) is her collection of flats paired with whatever she feels like layering on top of it. Getting flats in all sorts of colors and patterns is her motto right now. You name it; solids, paisley's, and seer suckered patterns. Equipped to dazzle any plain old outfit & really stand out under jeans and capri's.

Here's a great site I came across with assorted French Bred flats http://frenchsoleshoes.com/ (I almost thought I was picking french pastries if this were a bakery)!

This just shows how a simple style can go to so many limits, if by fabric type & color or pattern. This style will really help ninja's that wear black every day; a stylish technique to wear a different pair of flats each day of the week. These are cute and comfy and always perfect to wear to go shopping FOR MORE NEW FLATS!

Golf Fashion

One of my long time readers reported spotting this at a golf store recently. I HAD TO FIND OUT IF IT WAS TRUE.

I have a problem wearing my golf glove now that I'm married, the rings get in the way ! So, I don't wear my wedding rings while I golf. Good thing my golf bag has a delicate felt-lined pouch pocket that holds my jewelry! End of story.

Then brewed another problem, when my nails were long and I would get them them manicured for the weekend, they wouldn't fit into my golf glove either! So, I end up not wearing my glove as much or end up buying another one after a short period of time b/c they'd get stretched out or the long nails would actually poke holes thru the finger tips. Big deal, I keep buying golf gloves, I've gone through 3 already. End of story.

Then there was a problem I thought could never be resolved: the white starched hand from wearing the golf glove during the more sunny golf days. Golfer's tan is just not that hot. So I learned to remind myself to hide the tanned hand at the pool while trying to tan the white hand. End of story.

Well, NOT END OF STORY...b/c this ladies golf glove resolves all three, count 'em, 3 of my problems out on the golf course!

Solution #1 = hole for ring to stick
Solution #2 = cut out finger tips for nails
Solution #3 = tan thru!

My prep it out..fit today draws my attention to my new found love of super soft button up collared shirts. I never had a thing for these shirts (the stiffness and stuffiness were a huge turn off) but I fell in love when I found some on sale at the Banana outlet factory last month at Rehoboth Beach Tanger Outlet Centers (they were $14.99!). The low V-neck cut, that doesn't allow buttons any further, really helps my neck breathe too. So I snagged 3 - in white, lavender & a pink/lavender blend.

Today I accompanied my pink/lavender button up with an argyle sweater vest that has a multi-color mix. I chose the pink/lavender shirt b/c of the hot pink lines that accent the front of my vest, although the front of the vest has bright orange triangles (just as you were thinking, right?). Ah-ha! Patience my ninja, the back has PINK triangles that makes up the argyle on the back side. Surprise!!!! So, surprise someone you love (or yourself) and accent your front side with the back side and have fun putting together a solid or patterned button up under a multi-color or solid argyle. It was ALL over the place when I went back-to-school shopping over the weekend. How did it go you ask? Stay tuned, I'll be talking about it all week. Ta-ta!

Back to school shopping even when there's no school?

Have some of you been thinking of back-to-school shopping for your hot new fall wardrobe? Does that somehow still stick with us all through life even when there's no school to attend? That doesn't count for those of you that have to shop for your kids or for you teachers out there. This is for the rest of us that still think "I need to hit the sale rack for back-to-school shopping"!

Well the rest of us = me and how I recently planned a shopping excursion with two of my fave shopping mates. This event is taking place this weekend and it dawned on me that I'm still programmed in my mind that back-to-school shopping must exist even after all the hubbub of looking good and making that great first impression to your class mates on the first day of school. Now, it's all about getting the hottest and latest trend and still keeping up with fashion. If you're thinking of a back-to-school shopping spree here are a few must-have items for fall; these are items you meant to get last fall but the year passed by and summer became more important. (I'm purely speaking for myself here). Put it in your social calendar and make it a date with a friend and shop your little heart out. Here's my version of what I had to have or what I have to get to fulfill my back-to-school shopping list.

5 must-have back-to-school items

Something tweed (whatever, be clever: jacket, hat, vest and even on your shoes).
Rain boots (just in case you get stuck in a flood and b/c you have to have the right shoes for every occasion).
Something purple (b/c everything I see in the stores and mags are purple even though I've been the queen of "I want everything purple" since the 5th grade, yeah ask My My. She knows and will tell you the troof).
Something gray, to go with the purple; especially if you make it charcoal (b/c I love that right now and Lan P. from Baltimore, MD helped me see the light).
Warm gloves. I want to be warm this winter. I'm over buying cheap gloves that aren't warm but just pretty. This has caused me many of dry, cold hands in the past. I'm investing to keep it real (?) & warm this year.
